ChatZilla

ChatZilla is a small but flexible IRC client that runs on top of the Mozilla platform (i.e. Firefox, SeaMonkey, etc.). It supports plenty of customising with CSS for controlling the display (motifs) and JavaScript for extending/changing the functionality (plugins). Check out my page of useful ChatZilla links.
